How movers usually price a move
- Distance: Within the city or between Islamabad and Rawalpindi costs less than inter-city.
- Volume: Number of rooms and amount of furniture decide truck size.
- Floor and access: Upper floors without a lift cost extra labour.
- Extra services: Packing, dismantling and reassembling beds, wardrobes and kitchens.
Checklist before moving day
- List large items and take photos of their condition.
- Book movers at least a week ahead. Month-end is busiest.
- Ask what is included: packing material, labour, loading and unloading.
- Get the price in writing, with truck size.
- Pack fragile items yourself in boxes and label each room.
- Keep documents, jewellery and cash with you.
Protecting your furniture
- Wrap wooden surfaces and glass in blankets or foam
- Dismantle large wardrobes and beds instead of carrying them whole
- Keep screws in labelled bags taped to each piece
Red flags
- A price that is far below everyone else
- No written quote
- Asking for full payment before loading
- No clear truck size or crew count
