Short answer: a good split AC installation needs the right indoor and outdoor position, a solid outdoor bracket, correct pipe length and slope, a clean drain, a safe power point and a vacuum and leak check before the unit is run. Mistakes here cause water leaks, noise and poor cooling.
Before the technician arrives
- Decide the indoor unit position: central on a wall, away from direct sunlight on the outdoor side.
- Check that the outdoor location is accessible and ventilated.
- Confirm a suitable power point and breaker for the AC load.
- Keep the area clear for working.
Installation steps
- Mark and drill: position the indoor mounting plate level and make the pipe hole with a slight downward slope outward.
- Fix the outdoor bracket: secure it into solid masonry, not loose plaster.
- Run piping and drain: keep bends gentle, insulate the lines and slope the drain so water flows out.
- Connect and vacuum: flare connections, vacuum the lines and check for leaks.
- Power and test: connect to a proper supply and test cooling, drain and noise.
What affects the installation price
- Pipe length and whether extra copper piping is needed
- Outdoor bracket type and height of the wall
- Wiring and breaker work
- Drilling difficulty and finishing
- Whether you are also uninstalling an old unit
We confirm the price on inspection before starting, since site conditions differ.
Common installation mistakes
- Drain pipe with no slope, causing water to drip inside.
- Outdoor unit on a weak bracket, causing vibration and noise.
- Skipping the vacuum step, which hurts cooling and the compressor.
- Too long or kinked piping.
- Shared overloaded power point.
Shifting an existing AC
When you move house, the AC should be uninstalled carefully, gas handled correctly and the unit reinstalled with checks. Combine it with our shifting service to avoid separate bookings.
